Jet-off to Los Angeles - The City of Opportunities

24th August 2007 - The day i jet off to Los Angeles, the city of opportunities, especially for those who aspire to be leading stars of the century! Yes, it's the place where anybody aspiring to be somebody goes to. N yes, pple will just ask u 'Are u an actress'? More on that later...

Flight (SQ flight thanks) at 5pm. Endured like 17hrs of cramped economy seat. Luckily, the seat beside me was empty from Taipei - LA, hence i could sorta lie down n rest. Didn't sleep much (i was on the plane for god's sake!)

Touched down in LA at ard 8pm (LA time, which is 15hours behind us), and the bloody customs took more than 1hr to clear. Ended up reaching my hostel ard 1130pm (cos the bus ride from airport is ard 1hr). Yes, LA is BIG BIG BIG. Not like SG. Airport to anywhere is far far far...

1st nite of hostel (at WEst Hollywood Banana Bungalows) is just a stop over cos the next morning, i'm off to San Diego... 3hours by Greyhound bus ride.. Smooth ride over. Forgot to mention, due to jet lag, i DID NOT sleep at all the nite b4.

Met a traveller from Singapore on the bus but he was heading to Las Vegas. Made an appointment to meet up when we're both back in LA..

Checked in USA Hostels in San Diego and started my tour immediately. Bought a 2-day Bus pass for USD9 (unlimited rides for 2 days) SG should consider having this option! Esp for tourists... In SD, their fare is based on per ride, not distance. So u pay USD1.75 each time u board a bus or trolly n u can take it as far as u want! Actually, trolley rides seem to be FOC, cos no1 checks when u board it, but they put signs at the trolley station that u must have a valid ticket...Hmmmm

Went to Old Town, but it's disappointing. Nothing much to see there... So went off to Balboa park instead. Basically, it's just a park of museums, nothing much there... Alot of 'free' performances by the roads. "free" in the sense that u don't have to pay entrance fee, but tips are welcomed.

Next stop, Coronado island. Yes, rushed there to watch the sunset but in the end missed it cos i had to wait bloody long for the bus. But anyway, the weather was not good for sunset tat day, so it was alrite. Reached there n toured ard the famed 'Hotel Del Coronado'. Nice hotel by the beach n it was bloody freezing by the beach! Must have been the jet lag, cos i fell asleep on my way back to the hostel on the bus. Dangerous thing to do, esp in a foreign plc. Due to jet lag, i slept like a pig tat nite, for abt 14hrs straight...Which caused the next fatal mistake...

Which is, i woke up at 3pm the next day. Yes, a damn fatal mistake! Half a day gone, n disrupted my plan! Wasted half a day sleeping..could have gone somewhere in that half a day, but well what's done cannot be undone. I jumped off my bed when i saw the time. Yes i reali jumped! N quickly settle off my cleaning n washing up within 15mins (the fastest time ever) n rushed off to the beach! Again, the wait for the bus alwz kills me..Ended up reaching the beach at ard 445pm (the beach is not near) Rushed to find a bike shop (which is surprisingly not a common sight there) but too bad, came too late, no more bikes available. Damn it!

So, i started walking along the beach. Yes, i thought, why not walk instead of bike (not knowing the consequences). So happily, i started walking along the beach. Quite a nice walk initially, until i past the beach onto the roads & La Jolla estate. Again, i continued walking along the roads, admiring the high end estates & houses... Weather was good, cool & windy, so u don't feel hot while walking. This went on for 1.5 hrs and i was no where near my ultimate destination - La Jolla Coves for the sunset. Time was already 630pm n i cldnt risk missing it. So i took the bus. Luckily i made tat choice cos the bus took another 15-20mins to reach La Jolla Coves. Imagine how long that would take me if i were walking...

I reached La Jolla b4 7pm, enough time to walk ard n admire the caves & cliffs... Reali nice plc to live.. But reali cold! Waves hitting agt the cliffs, reali a spectacular sight! There was this man (crazy but entertaining) who was standing on the edge of the cliff, waiting to be washed by the waves n he did! Many many times! Drenched he was, but it was a fun sight to watch! Hahah...e'ryone was cheering him when he did it! I was entertained too!

Sunset took plc aft 7pm n it was beautiful! Just stunning! Glad i did not miss it. By the time i was done with the sunset, it was almost 8pm, so i took the bus back to hostel...N prepare for my departure the next day.

Next morning, i woke up as planned at 830am. Yes, i cannot afford to miss the time again. After checking out, i headed out to Cabrillo National Monument. It's on top of a hill, n the view if just stunning! Overlooks the Pacific Ocean...Cool! There's a College (Pt Loma University) that is just there overlooking the Pacific Ocean, but I did not go there (no time). Imagine how cool that is! Everyday when u go to school, u get to look over the ocean wow! Walked over to the cemetary just down the road.. How nice to be buried with the Ocean as a view...

Rushed back to the hostel, collected my bag n went to the station for my 310pm bus back to LA. Wished I had 1 more day in San Diego so that i can go over to TJ (Mexico) but well, next time!

Reached LA at 7pm n coincidence, i was on the same bus as Winston (the guy I met on my bus to SD). After checking in to my hostel (Banana Bungalows Hollywood), went to meet Winston for a walk n dinner...

I'm Back!!!

I'm Back!!

Miss me? Haven blogged for quite a while, well cos i was away on a business cum vacation trip to the other side of the World - Los Angeles! Far far away... for just 1 short week. Better than nothing! Loads to blog about..so shall start slowly n proceed with care, in case i miss out anything.

Of cos i had fun! Yes, alone this time again...what's new. But well, i'm used to it, and being alone allows me the freedom to decide what i want to do, how i want to do n when i want to do! Like walking walking n walking the whole day! Ha, don't think alot of pple can stand that yar? I like! Walk walk walk. Good form of exercise! N i lose 1kg during this trip. Haha what's new rite..I alwz lose weight when i travel. But then going to pile them back on soon...Must stop this stupid habit of mine...

Arrived back home this morning ard 2am, din sleep much (abt 7hrs) n now, thinking abt Mon (which is tmr) the feeling is just sucky! But what to do. I've played enough, so it's back to work time! Sian.... NVM, 2weeks later, i'll b set off to another travel journey! Can't wait for that!

Sad thing to say, fell sick during my trip in LA cos of the crazy weather. Day time was hot n sunny, much like in SG but not humid & u don't feel so sweaty. But night time is cool & sometimes even cold! Chilling! N i had no jacket sometimes, so caught the cold bug... So terrible!! Still nursing a cold now... N finally managed to unblock my ears after 1 day!

Oh my total damage in LA (exclude those chargeable expenses) = USD 308. Most of it spent on hostels, greyhound & Universal Studios. Keke, I have already said i wana keep my spending to a minimal.. So achieved that somehow...

So ok, i shall start my LA travel journal with the next post.

我的省钱大计半路杀出了程咬金， 女人的致命伤 - 鞋！买了三双鞋，还嫌不够！残了！太久没买些的后果，需要填补货源。花了好多。现在又在想买衣服！曼谷之旅不太算，因买的东西都不是服饰。女人就是这样！

接下来，要到洛杉矶公干。又是一笔开销。今年开销特别多。玩太多了！哈哈！老远飞到洛杉矶，一定要到迪斯尼乐园，Universal Studio （不懂中文翻译），好莱坞！这些地方都不便宜，但不得不去。好吧，省钱大计将从饮食开始！开始以面包代饭！又省钱，又可减肥，一石二鸟，太棒了！

旅游搜查行动将展开！洛杉矶，越南，柬埔寨。好多东西要做！但想到去旅行，就开心！辛苦一点没关系！换来的会是快乐了与满足！

好兴奋！八月底洛杉矶，九月越南和柬埔寨。今年是旅游年！

又是一则华文博客。得到朋友的反应，说很喜欢，有亲切感。哈，所以有可能以后会多用华文写作！当然，我不会忘了那些不懂华文的读者！放心，我还是会用英文写的！华文写很辛苦，费时。英文比较快！哈，我是懒惰的！

不过，花文写作，还真觉得有点亲切，比较贴切。毕竟是华人，用华语交谈比较多，所以有这感觉!

有些事，用华语说比较能表达。用英语就没那种感觉了！哈哈！或许我应该考虑用新加坡式华语，将会更亲切

天下无不散之宴席

人群慢慢稀少，长江后浪推前浪，一代新人换旧人
渐渐地，熟悉的面孔以消失，换来的都是陌生的笑容与羞涩。这就是现实的残酷。

永远的那一天将变成回忆。

高兴？失望？不舍？羡慕？担心？心情是复杂的。

高兴- 因以寻找到另一片天空，找到自己喜欢的工作
失望- 因人才外流
不舍 - 因失去，身边又少了一个工作伙伴
羡慕 - 因自己还在原地踏步
担心 - 因少了帮手，工做负担将加重

走到了人生的交叉点，该是下定论的时刻。人生目标，理想生活，到底想则么活得精彩，活得开心，活得有意义，无怨无悔？这都是值得去思考，去理解，去解答。

常常问自己，还要留吗？能支撑下去吗？有能力与毅力吗？但回答总是不明确。这难道证明了一点？

已经不再那么用心，不再那么有冲劲。不知为何。是到了瓶颈，时成已到？

这一年，放了很多假期，出国散心好几次，心情也变得开朗，得到很多领悟。发现人生不只是工作赚钱，不只是金钱面包，还有好多东西等待着我们去寻找，去追寻，去探索，去感受！人生经验是最佳的师范大学！

钱不是万能但没钱却也是万万不能。要懂得平衡，知足常乐。当然，要懂得何谓“知足”。一个简单的词，却藏着非常深的见解。我还在探索，解答。真的，当你懂得知足，一切将变得更简单，更快乐，更美好。

是时候静心聆听，寻找答案。

再次回到那宁静，悠闲的小岛。接近大自然，发现认识渺小的。在岛上自由自在，悠闲的生活是前所未有的感觉！在岛上，无顾虑，无界限，无所不谈，天南地北，样样都能说，感觉真爽！这就是小岛的诱惑，所谓的“岛的现象”。我真正的体会到了这一点。感觉很好，向放下枷锁，不避嫌，真正感受生活的意义。人与人之间也没城市般的勾心斗角，心存隔膜。简单的生活是赋予心灵的维他命！潜进大海中，美丽的海底世界进入眼帘，接近大自然，突然变渺小，大巫见小巫。岛上度假，应该常去体验。明年再去！

度假回来两个星期，但那度假的感觉久久无法平息。还是无法真正专心把所有精神防灾工作上。难道我已无心向工？一开始策划下一个假期。一个超级年度假期！三个礼拜的患有东南亚！其实只是越南和柬埔寨。但已让我精神亮了起来！一开始着手策划，上网查询。海比做工勤劳！哇！造反了！还有一个半月，现已迫不及待向立刻飞往目地的。真的参了，一个月不放假难道真地会让我无精打采？这则么行啊！

现在是省钱大战时刻！朋友们，没事情不要啦我出门乱花钱。美事情不要到高档餐厅吃饭，让我们一起从简好吗？如果我不常于你们出去，请谅解。要开始面包大战了！参了！有好多东西我想买很久但还没买！

请大家包容这次的话语长篇大论。突发奇想，就开始使用话语，训练一下午的话语，不然会生锈的！毕竟我是高级花纹的学生，要学以致用！不要荒废老师的教导！好不容易，终于写完了！谢谢大家耐心倾听我的唠叨。下次尽量从简，使用英语吧！（虽然政府提倡“讲华语活动“）

1st week gone without swimming, no contact (or direct, extreme contact) with the sun. Hmm like not much change to my skin tone. Must slap on more whitening face mask. DIY face mask (no $$ to buy SK 2) Milk + flour! Quite effective! Of cos must apply more often to get the result (it's the same with all other products). Trust me, it's effective! Coming from someone who has been tan more often than less tan, the effect is especially evident on me. So when i say it works, it reali does work! Haven been putting it on since i came back (ok only once) so must do it every night now. Too tan now... Got mistaken for a Malay! How bad can that be! Not like i wasnt mistaken b4 (thot i was thai when i was in thailand). Good excuse for me to utilise my gym pass.

Seriously, i cannot rem when i was fair (or fairer). Prob in JC or sec sch?? should be, cos i wasn't so active in sports then. Let me review the picts. Hm..tried to take more pict of me in JC but apparently that time was not the digital pict time & taking pict of physical pict is not so easy. Finally found my sec sch pict!

Then in Sec sch (prob 13-14 yrs). Wow so innocent looking rite hahaha I still am ok.

Hm like not much diff leh (ok younger la...it's 10yrs ago, of cos i'm younger!) Still tan looking. Hmm goes to show i'm not naturally fair.

Planning my ultimate annual trip! Nowhere far far or too fancy. Just Cambodia & Vietnam. this time aiming for 3weeks! Yes, my 1st ever realli long trip!! SO excited that i totally have no mood to wrk. Already have been researching the places now! Even tho it's like 2mths away! Act 2mths is not very far away so muz start planning now! Any kind souls who have been to these places can drop me a note on places to visit, how u had planned ur trip or any other tips so i can take those into consideration when planning.

This time round, I'm not alone. Got 1 kaki! So happy!

Yes that means no more diving for me this year! Next year! Ok, i promised u i will accompany u to learn (since bang seh u this year), n I will fulfill that next year ok! Bring u to the nice island to learn!

Another thing to start doing - Write & update my CV!! Time to move on? Time to get outa audit? Probably. Can i envision myself as an audit manager? I Don THink So. So what's the pt of staying? Might as well search for other fields! Shall stop procrastinating & start writing! Yes, talking abt procrastination, I shld start doing the things i wana do! Like buy my diving mask, external harddisk drive, headphone with mic... Idiot me, kept putting these things off!

3 more weeks of compulsory confinement from the sun. I shall perservere. I shall persist! Resist the urge & temptation to swim in the afternoon (FYI i don like swimming in the evening cos cold)

2nd Dive Trip for the Year...Possibly the Last???

Yes, getting into this diving craze now. For good (it's really fun sport!) or for worse (it's a little expensive), up to individual. But i enjoy it! Well, u have to go often to improve ur skills just like any other sport, and the more adapt u'r at it, the more u like the sport! Haha that goes without saying. This time round, it's Meei Ting's (aka Ting Mei) turn to earn her advanced open water course!! Yes, the last time round, she fell sick n missed the chance. But well, maybe it's a good thing that she had to go back the 2nd time, cos it means I get to go back again! Yes, 一次生两次熟. So this time round, it was a much more fun holiday! Cos 1st, we know the pple at the dive shop more (after the 1st time meeting, everyone is buddies now), and 2nd, the dive sites r much more familiar at least to me & makes diving much more fun & easier. 3rd, the water is so much clearer this time round! So it's not a wasted trip! Yes, in May when i went, damn waters! Visibility not very good, and lotsa jellyfish that stings! Now in July, clear water, good visibility & NO JELLYFISH!!! Makes diving alot easier & alot more fun!

N I think it is a really good break for us! 2weeks b4 the trip, bogged down by stupid AQR, worked like nobody's business so shagged! After AQR, it was our CPA course + exams, so it was back to studying after 3 years of NO STUDY. N immediately after exams, it's holiday by the beach! What better way! This is the perfect combination! Also, I stayed out of the sun for 3weeks prior to the trip, yes cos I know for sure that once i reach Perhentian, I'm going to get tan, so b4 that happens, must whiten myself abit (not alot cos that'll take ages). But behold! I was still looking tanner than ever! More on that later...

THis time round, we got smarter! Took the sleeper train which is a blessing cos we can sleep better & rest better & more comfy! Took from JB railway, & costs 50% less! Haha the power of Ringgit! Although the journey is a couple of hours longer, it's worth it! For better sleep, better rest & comfort & $$, what is 2 hours!!!

Ended up reaching the jetty around 10am and headed to find Shikin (the boat operator personnel for Steffan Sea Sports) who helped us save a further RM5 on the nature reserve fee or sth lidat. So by the time we reached the Island itself, it was 1030am & we headed direct to Maya Resort to book our sea view resort (with hammock yeah!!!) RM70 per night, quite worth it. FYI no air con, only fan which is good enuff! Hey, njoy the natural breeze!

As usual, 1st day no diving... It's Long Beach Hour! Playing with the water & slapping on tonnes of sunblock. Yes, this time, Ting Mei cannot fall sick!! Sebastian (aka Best) will kill me if she does!

We met alot of japanese divers this time round. 2 Jap dive instructors (Nori & Miki) & 3 Jap divers! Wow, the place is practically swamped with Japs! Ohayo! & Japs r reali interesting to watch! They are so animated when they talk & their tones r always on the high & they can really talk non-stop! Seriously! We are always amazed at how much they can talk!

Day 2 starts the diving course for Ting Mei! 1st dive in 9months, of cos she was scared & abit bumpy. I did not go cos i wanted to sleep more hahaha! By the time i woke up, they had left, so i went for a power swim in the sea! Shiok! Another dive for her in the afternoon - Navigation, which so did not interest me, so no dive again for me! N i went for another power swim in the afternoon! Ended up with several cuts on my legs cos it was low tide, with corals sticking out.

At night, it was time to play with the fire ball (without fire). Er, I'm not good at it hahah but Ting Mei is rather talented! She managed to grasp the technique within 1 night, although still nds fine-tuning. Obviously Best was good at it, but the champion has to be Miki (Jap Dive instructor).

Day 3 starts my 1st dive! Yeah! Went wreck diving. I must say, after 2months of no diving, a little scared hahaha... But i think overall it went ok. At least I equalise faster now. Good dive! Visibility was so much bter compared to last time! Don't mind going again cos u always see different things! Was supposed to go for a 2nd dive, but Ting Mei was tired (well can't blame her, she needs to adjust) so no afternoon dive, but prep for night dive! Always scared for night dive, cos u only have a small ray of light to guide u. But this time round, i think the experience not bad! Saw cuttlefish hunting! And when we got up, the sky was BEAUTIFUL with lots of STARS!! Oh man! U don c that in Singapore! So romantic!!! But very cold! hahah..

That night, we started playing with cameras. B&W, colour, like we've nvr used our cameras b4. Yes, n we took like tonnes of pictures (i've nvr taken so many picts when i travel!!) & somemore act cute ones! Omigod! Imagine me doing that! Haha..that's the effect of island holiday. U just release all ur inhibitions & go crazy! Nvr, once in a while u must go crazy & psycho a little! Yes, i m psychotic when i'm with close frens, u can go ask all my group of frens how crazy i can b! I may look aloof, but deep down inside, if u know me, I'm a different person. Look closely, my skin colour is almost the same tone as Best!! It goes to show how dark I have become!! This is Bad Bad Bad. I though i could be 'fair' next to him, but no, not anymore!

Oh and do u noe, our dear Best is actually a professional gundam maker! (Ok, i not sure how do u call these pple gundam maker? sounds weird but whatever, u get what i mean) Yes, he's very talented in this! He's preparing for the competition this year in Nov & i tell u, his concept is GREAT!! Last yr he was 1st runner-up for M'sia, this year, aim for 1st prize! Then fly to HK to compete with pple from other countries! Yes, we support u ok! When u get famous, don't forget about us!

Next day, while waiting for dives, i tried my hand at making gundam. Yes, the one i bought from Thailand for Best. Hmm I must say, i'm quite talented! Best says wana get me to be his helper! Apprentice kekeke... At night, we had drinking session! Yes, I brought a bottle of Martini to the island & we shared among ourselves. Nope, not enuff to get drank or high keke just social chatting session. & alot of crappy topics being shared among us (with the Japanese) some being XX-rated hahahah! Shall not share here, anyone interested to know, drop me a msg n i'll tell u!

Oh this time round, i finally got my wish to try on the cute Oakley glasses from Best! Yes, i'm crazy over those cos they really look very cute! Look below for the pictures. That night, we took alot of crazy pictures (more pictures at my online photo album which i shall post the link later on..)

And yes, this time i finally got to go Long Beach for dinner! Best finally fulfilled his promise, if not, have to hit him with the broomstick & scold him... Dinner was a nice affair at Palm Beach (nice ambience, new music) but no jamming session. Cos Ricky was not around (pple off to genting for fun). Nvm, will have a next time (maybe next yr, maybe in oct who knows). Anyway this time like not so in the mood for cheonging. Maybe cos Angie not ard hahah she's the little chilli padi!

The next day, we went Big Island to jalan jalan (look see, look see). Hmm if we though small island was quiet, we were wrong! Big Island is even more quiet!! Like not much activity going on. You see mainly families lying on the beach, reading, suntanning, basically doing nth much. Yup, big island is more for families while small island is more for younger pple, couples or backpackers. Ha maybe it's lucky that Steffan Sea Sports moved to small island. At night, it was yet another chatting session (yes we talked abt anything & everything of all colours hahah) Again, too much details to write here, so anyone wana know, drop me a note & i'll consider telling u. Dear old Steffan starting to 'preach' us abt the joys of diving, what entails in diving, what we want in diving & what he has realised in his life of diving. It's like 'wow suddenly so serious topic' cos we were initially talking abt funny things, dirty things, then suddenly 'boom' brought back down to earth & everyone was like sitting there quietly, faces all very serious listening to him. Hahha, he kept asking me if wana join him for shelling (collect shells) & wana dive with me to see my diving skills. Wah, make me nervous leh. Big boss woh... My fren says maybe he sees the potential in me hahahahah..... But i think i still just want to stick to diving as a sport, going underwater to see the underwater world, look at fishes, discovering fishes from under the corals or rocks.

And on the last day (after 1 dive in the morning) it was time to say 'Adios' to Perhentian & back to reality & work. So sad. After holiday (esp a beach hol & so much fun) it's reali quite hard to get back to the routine life. Met quite a few new & interesting pple there.. FYI, Steffan SEa Sports is a family-run business so almost everyone is related to each other! THis time round, I saw sea turtle (yes finally) & whipray! So happy! Of cos bamboo sharks (don't worry, small ones) & lots of puffer fish (they'r big!!) & cuttlefish! Big moray eels, box fish & porcupine fish! Yeah, i enjoyed alot this time round.

The after-effects? Damn I'm like so damn tan now! Yes, i look at myself in the mirror & like wow who's that? Damn dark now!! N pple r starting to mistake me for Malay! Yes, my 2nd day at work, i was greeted by Melayu from coffeeshop aunties. Thanks leh, but Saya tak boleh Melayu (I don't know Malay)!! Ok not even sure if it's spelt correctly. Die, Now i must bleach myself for at least 1 month (FYI, i will not get fair in just 1 mth, but at least not so tan) Actually, I've nvr seen myself fair! Hm maybe in JC?? Hahah, I'm just aiming to reduce my tan alittle to my normal bronze colour. Ok, must stay outa the sun, must say "bye" to my fav swimming in the afternoon (i don't like to swim in the evenings cos very cold). So now, stick to gym. In 1mth's time, I must shed at least 1 tone of darkness!!!!!

I've deleted the previous post.. Y? Cos after re-reading it, think it's a load of crap! Haha, that's wat happens when u worked crazy hours, insufficient sleep n just wana explode n unload ur frustration. So for those who did not read tat, too bad!!! Haha.. Basically the geez is to complain abt how tiring i was last week, how crazy i worked...The worse hours in my entire audit life!

Anyway, I've cut my hair, yet again! Haha, well it's been almost 6mths since my last cut, time to trim it n get it back to shape. Er no pictures to show yet...Shall post some later in the month after my week break at the island. To give u a rough idea, basically it's just shorter! N still a bit of bob cut. This is the short hair year for me!! So nothing beyond shoulder length!

Anyway, on CPA course this week. After the stupid bloody AQR (Audit Quality Review), it really makes me re-think my future with the COmpany. Do i wana stay or leave? To leave is a greater desire, to get myself a life! Not that i don have one. Just that the nature of the work makes one feel reali pissed off n fed up alot of times. Staying late for the sake of staying late, or rushing for some unappreciative and demanding bosses.. Unfair n unjustified promotion for some... Maybe it's time to look out...

Well what do i want? Not accountant. As an auditor for 3 yrs, i've learnt that accountant is really quite boring, though it can be a v easy n simple job. But really boring n having to deal with auditors, hahaha....

Internal Auditor. I wana do that! Y? I think the job nature is quite interesting, looking into the business efficieny and ways of improving the workings of the Company. At least, not as mandane as accountant. Flexibility. N of cos, the benefit of getting to travel!! Well, I must aim for MNCs!! So that I can travel internationally!!

Another option, have been thinking of working overseas! UK!! Cos I simply love the UK culture and atmosphere. But it's not easy to get a job in UK, n only if u go through the audit route, u'll find it easier to secure a spot! Audit ahha...i wunder if i'll take tat route. But seriously, i would Love to be able to get the opportunity to work in UK. ANyone has job openings or know of any? Helpers??? If anyone know of any good job opportunities (for overseas postings or Internal Audit), please drop me a note!!!

So happy. This week on course - quite free n relax. Next week on holiday on an island - super cool!!! Then come back for a tough fight again with an IPO job. N the cycle starts... Still clueless on my annual BIG trip. How?? ANyone has a great idea??

1 week rendevous getaway to Bangkok and KL - Part 2

Back from Bangkok, 1 day rest, followed by KL trip. Short family getaway decided on a very last min. Without unpacking much, we set off on Fri morning to KL.

After a near 6hrs bus ride, we arrived at our Hotel in KL. Hotel was just alrite (after the experience of Sheraton, u just can't compare). After unpacking and marking my territory with my beanie star, we headed off to Petaling Street (a.k.a. Chinatown). Yes, more food to come. Drank the famous Luo Han Guo, ate the famous Koon Kee Wantan Noodle, sampled the Ah Po Mua Chee, and walked off the food before heading for claypot rice with side dishes of spicy stingray, sotong and veges.

Eye on Malaysia

After a stomach bursting dinner, we headed off to Eye On Malaysia (Ferris Wheel ride). For RM15 each, we were treated to a 12min ride, 4 rounds of turn to view the KL night. Now I understand y this Ferris wheel ride is not mentioned on the "Must See", and even M'sians Have not been there. The experience, nth fantastic. Too short and small, u can only see as far as the Twin Towers, and the wheel just turned too fast ard. After the 2nd round, i wished i was out.

After the ride, I met my fren Angie for supper and an impromptu visit to Q-Bar in Westin. Quite a cool bar! Latin band playing and dancing. We couldnt dance as we were severly improperly dressed. T-shirt and jeans for Angie, and sleeveless t-shirt, skirt and slippers for me. Well, next time then! Next stop was Indian food where we sampled cheese naan. Nice! The night ended at 3am for me. Tired!!

Next morning, off to Bukit Bintang for some shopping and just jalan jalan (walk around) Nothing for me to shop as I just returned from Bangkok. Weather was damn hot!! Visited the Twin Tower and took some souvenir shots. Then off to the cinema for me to watch Ocean's 13, while the rest went separate ways. This is my 2nd movie in the week. Yes, I went to watch movie in Bangkok as well (Fantastic Four) and had to stand up for the national anthemn.

Night time was dinner with the relatives at a chinese restaurant and visiting my 3rd uncle. Another late night and off to sleep for an early morning Dim SUm session the next day b4 our bus leaves for SG.

Talking abt dunkin donuts, how to spot a Singaporean? Easy! When u c someone buying BOXES of dunkin donuts, that person is Singaporean. Yes, craze over donuts. This is true in Bangkok as well!

My dear sis got so very sick during the trip back home that she vomitted during the ride to the terminal and again after our dinner back in SG. I had to lend her my dear beanie star during the bus ride. Luckily she did not vomit on it. Oh we saw Mr Bean's Bear! So damn cute.

It was a LONG, ardous trip back home, reaching SG at ard 830pm. That's the end of the short KL trip. Total damage in KL, probably about RM40 (my own expenditure, excluding the bus ticket and hotels and 1st night dinner). Well I did not meant to spend in KL.

1 week rendevous getaway to Bangkok and KL - Part 1

My 1st true holiday (where I travelled by flight i mean) for the year! Bangkok, the place where I nvr wld have thot I would njoy and spend >2 days there. Truth be told, I was there for 4 days, and quite like it! I did not plan to go Bangkok this year (totally not in my plan) but 3weeks b4 the trip, my friend managed to persuade me to take the trip with her (literally with her cos i was there for leisure, she was there for business). So with the lure of free 5-star accomodation, I got hooked and booked my return flight to bangkok. Suddenly I started to feel excited, and penned my shopping list!

Armed with S$200 SGD worth of Thai Baht (and credit cards + extra SGD), i went to my fren's house on sat nite to stay over so that I can get to the airport easier the next morn for the 630am flight. I was scheduled to arrive abt 1.5hrs b4 my fren (who was taking SQ flight). After we arrived, took the limo to the hotel (Sheraton Grand), the 1st stop was Chatuchak Market. 2hours of shopping in Chatuchak set me back at 1,440B(~S$65) and several items off my shopping list. Bought bikinis(yes i'm a bikini whore), slippers, sunglasses, hat, shorts, top....

Back to hotel for a short rest, drop off our shopping items and off to MBK, the mega shopping mall! My damage there, only 619B(~S$28) cos it's only the 1st day at MBK, look ard for the good deals b4 striking the next day.

At night, it's Chinatown time for FOOD! 1st stop, kaya toast (much like the SG version but the kaya is orange and less sweet). Then, it's durian eating along the streets. 1st time eating durian in like 2 years at least! 100B for like 9 seeds. The taste - dry, not too sweet, OK. More shopping for thai food, then last stop was Sharks' fins and bird's nest soup. We were oredi quite full by then. 300B for Shrks' fins, 200B for bird's nest soup. I did not drink bird's nest cos I don't like. Sharks' fins soup was quite nice, thick n with quite alot of ingredients in it.

2nd day, I was off on my own, shopping at Central World and splurged on Bras!! Haha, cheap cheap! N it's not ABC brand but brands like Warcoal and Triumph. Then I had the famous Thailand Kaya Toast! They have different flavours of Kaya and i had the Taro flavoured kaya toast. The kaya is smooth n thick. Yum Yum. It's at emporium shopping centre 5th level, beside Body shop. Must go try! 20B per piece! Night time was dinner with Alvin tan (ex-colleague) at Fuji Japanese Restaurant.

More shopping on the 3rd day and dinner by the roadside, fishball noodle soup for 30B. Quite nice! 4th and last day, a morning 2hr thai massage and off to the airport for the trip back home.

Total damage = 9,186B(~S$412) Wow Bangkok is evil!!

Brazilian Virgin - No More!

No pain no gain...Nope not talking about Tattoo.. That plan I think gota KIV for the moment (resistance from higher level). So went for another treatment - Brazilian Wax! Haha... My friend has mentioned this plan just a few days ago n well y not just go for it! INitially we were going for just the bikini wax (just bikini line area), but after consultation with the Strip therapist (I resist calling them Stripist), all-off Brazilian Wax is more worth it for us. Reason being, well, there just isnt much hair around the bikini line for them to wax off! Haha, we're just not hairy enuff! Whatever, so we braced ourselves for the full on Brazilian wax! FYI, Brazilian wax means all hair off the private area down there :P

Isit as painful as depicted on TV? Where women just go screaming their heads off at the sound of 'zesh'? Oh, all those are nonsense! Exaggerated! Made for TV drama! Not painful at all! Ok, u'll feel ur hair being pulled off, but that's just it! I wouldn't call it painful, juz like a slight pinch.. All those worries for nothing! N the feeling is quite shiok! Feels so clean n tidy now hahaha...Kinky... Definitely will go back again... But gota let my hair grow b4 i go, so that the process is more worth it (u noe, wax off more hair for the same price) The whole process is quite fast, 15mins max! Nothing to be afraid of! Come ladies, go for it!!

Attack of the Sequels!!!

This is the year of the Attack of the Sequels!! Yes, all the Hollywood blockbusters are sequels!!!

Spidey 3, Pirates of the Carribean (part 3), Shrek 3, Ocean's 13, Fantastic 4 (2nd movie), Harry Potter (5th movie), and what have u lined up... Well well, are they running out of ideas for new movies? But then again, if it ain't broken, don mend it rite?

Talking about sequels, notice how many 3rd installments there are! N I have watched all but one! Spidey3, pirates and Shrek 3... I have watched them all...N truth is, 3rd installment doesnt quite live up to expectation.

Spidey 3 - A little too draggy on the emotional parts, the relationships... Too little time on the action. Too many villians n too little time on them. Overall, too slow (it's abt 2.5hrs long i think) and the action only comes in at the very last part which was like rather short. Not my fav (think part 2 is still the best).

Pirates of the Carribean: At world's end - 2.5hrs long movie! Front part too slow and draggy. Introducing new characters, trying to build up the story. We need more Captain jack sparrow, will turner & elizabeth! They are the main attractions! Bu too little focus on them and too late. Only till the middle did the movie pick up steam on the action & adventure. Oh Will turner (aka Orlando Bloom) is just so damn dashing n handsome!! Overall, it is still so much better than Spidey 3. At least the action & the effects are just so cool!! But the thing I don't believe is that Eliz is willing to wait 10yrs for her hubby (Will) for just 1 day of reunion. Phew, is that possible? I mean, isn't that like the same as being a widow? N how many 10yrs can u wait! We're talking 10yrs here, not 10days, 10 weeks or 10mths! Is their love for each other so damn strong to withstand the 10yrs of agonising waiting, longing & lust? In reality, I reali don think it's possible. Somemore, they don't have internet of handphone to keep in contact...

Shrek 3 - Well what to say... It's just an animation. It is realli damn funny though, but i think the supporting casts outshone shrek! Yes, it shld not been called Shrek anymore but Shrek N Friends ( more emphasis on Friends) cos the supportings are just too damn furnie & interesting! Like Pinochio (just love the way he managed to talk his way through, hiding the fact that he knows where Shrek is but still not lying cos he can't), Gingerbread man (how he juz phased out when threatened, hence avoiding being asked by Prince Charming), Puss (Oh he is just so cute with his innocent eyes), Donkey(irritated by his incessant talkings but furnie)... Shrek? Who cares?! Of cos, as un-Disney as it is, it is still a Happily Ever after ending... with 3 Ogre babies!! Brainless movie, good for de-stressing and getting things off my mind..

So what's next? Maybe I shld watch Ocean's 13 to complete my list of trilogy watched. But then again, I don't like any of the actors in the movie. George Clooney - Y do pple find him so sexy? Argh he's old n ugly! Brad Pitt - Ar... No comments, don reali like him anyway. Matt Damon - Not good looking but the least hateful of the lot. The rest - No recollection at all! Haha.. It's just a heist movie. Can't even rem Ocean's 12 plot. Fantastic 4, not a fan.. What movie to watch? Harry Potter? Maybe lo, just to complete the series, not a fan as well.. Think out of the 4 movies, at least 2 i watched it on DVD (pirated somemore) keke...

Haha, maybe i shld just stick to my YOutube videos! Yes, I'm now offically a YouTube Whore!! Hooked desperately on YouTube, watching all my Next Top Models series - American, Canada, Britain, Germany, Australia, U name it I watch it. Oh man, YouTube is just such a wonderful invention!!! I can just spend my whole day watching non-stop! Now following Canada's NTM.. Finishing up Germany's NTM soon... Yes, I'm a video whore.. I still have my animes to catch up.. I need more free time!!

Unusual sight in Singapore today at One Raffles Quay - Waterspout!! For those who don't noe what's waterspout (courtesy of Jeremiah), it's like a twister but in water. Around 3+pm (i think), there was suddenly a commotion and a colleague asked if i was going to take a look. I was like 'look at what', and it was a waterspout!

E'ryone in office juz rushed over to the partner's room to get a good view of the waterspout. For a moment, we all thot our lives were in danger!! Actually we were just expecting early release home hahaha.. Damn it... But it looked rather scary, quite big though...

Finally it's friday!! N tomorrow, no parents for 8 days!!!!!!!! N this wkend, home alone!! Horray!! I love being home alone. Don understand y some pple (of quite a few pple) don like. Say i crazy to love being home alone! What's so bad abt that? NOTHING!!! Everything is great home alone (ok except for the fact that i have to wash the clothes n clean up...) but the thing is no government!! No fishy eyes ard the corner, no more feeling like pairs of eyes watching over u (tho most of the time they don, but u juz have that feeling). I'm Free!!! I can do whatever i want! Wake up at watever hour i like, eat or don eat watever i like, do watever i like, lay ard wherever i like.... hmmm maybe i can try sleeping naked!!! Wahahahahah!! See, that's what i like abt being homme alone! Totally free to try out new things... Or hold a great party (lots of booze n sex hahaha NOT). But not this wkend...let me njoy being home alone for just this precious once in a lifetime moment!

Ooo... Confirm going bangkok (aka BKK) in June. Leech on wendy's hotel accomo...n do some real shopping this time! I have not realli shopped in BKK b4. 1st year training in EY was held in BKK n seriously not realli alot of shopping but quite a considerable amt (not many trophies in terms of clothes or shoes). 2nd time a 1 day stopover in BKK enroute to Hanoi, did some shopping but it was not my main aim that time. So this time, i shall term it my shopping trip! Damn, i'm going to bleed terribly.... What to buy? Clothes (beach wear hahaha, shorts, hopefully office wear, dresses), bikinis (i'm starting to become a bikini whore), shoes (hopefully can find some nice shoes), lingerie (triumph is cheap cheap cheap), bags (cheap cheap cheap). Damn like so many things, mayb i shld go with an empty bag hahahah.... Clothes can buy there (Anyone who has more shopping ideas or places, pls recommend!!)..... Wow suddenly i'm so excited abt a shopping trip...This is so NOT ME!!! Ok, once in a while muz go for shopping spree...so relax i'm still the backpacker Me. I wun change... I still like scrim n save n trips, n not shop but look ard n njoy the atmosphere. Diving trip a definitely must back to Perhentian. When? Hopefully end June? DX n MT can or not? Else no time liao hahahah....

Night out at St James

18th May 2007 - Friday night 630pm. That's the start of the official (long awaited) post-peak chill out session organised by AABS 22 Social Committee! Venue is at the most happening place at the moment - St James Power Station! Free flow of beer, soft drinks & housepour!! Yeah... I don't care about beer, but as long as there'r housepours, I'm onz! But of cos, it's limited free flow i.e. 3 barrels of beer, 10 bottles of housepour throughout the night.

As usual, being the kind soul that I am, n being the number help for lcs (manager), i was called upon to be the recep for the night! Fine...No harm being the recep. Me n lcs mandled the booth from 630pm all the way till abt 8+pm before we proceeded to Gallery Bar to enjoy the party! And it was a perfect timing cos housepour started at 830pm! Yeah, let the drinking begin!

It was a great gathering party, the turnout was great! Chatting n gossiping through the night, saw a lot of colleagues who were forever MIA (Missing In Action) as e'ryone was out on job. Great time spent talking n gossiping about the latest news, latest happenings n what's gg on in life. Of cos great time drinking! 6 shots n 5 mix down my stomach! Shiok but i did not get high! Well well, i'm getting pretty good at drinking! Some of my colleagues were wasted after about 1 shot n 1 mix... Didnt reali get to explore St james ( there r several rooms in St james) cos some of my colleagues were drunk so had to take care of them... What a waste...Well i shall go back another day to truly explore!

Feeling not high enuff, we left St James for 2nd round! A total of 9 of us (mixture of snrs n assts) went to Club Street for more liquor! 1 bottle of Chivas, coke n green tea! Let the mixing n drinking begin! WE played some drinking games (guess the number, truth or dare which resulted in an intimate moment b/n 2 guys etc...) I had a total of 3 rather potent mix of Chivas n green tea, mixed with the previous glasses i had, n i announced 'that's it'. But this time, I was able to walk on my own (in a straight line) n I am certain I did not blubber... So much better than that time in Perhentian when i needed Sebastian to carry me n i blubbered then. But of cos still drunk this time. Went home to vomit! 1st time i vomitted...so i guessed i had too much.

2nd day woke up hungover n headache...But i still persevered n went to the gym for 1hr of combatting n 1hr of yoga!! To clear my mind! After which it was farewell dinner at cafe iguana for my dear fren Qinyi who is going to Vietnam for work. She'll be away for 1.5yrs in Vietnam. Ha, now i have a reason to go Ho Chi Minh! All the best to u Qinyi!

My Henna

Nice? Another Henna on my hand, this time much nicer design. I love this, though the colour after the scab is peeled is alot lighter (becomes brownish, so no pict taken cos not as nice). Got this for free at California Gym on Sat cos of the Mother's Day promo they were having. My lucky day! N Of cos I must try it! Leave a mark (temporary one) on my hand is a nice feeling haha...Especially for someone who is thinking of getting a tatoo soon on her body. But of cos this is not the design i'm going to get. Still waiting for Sebastian to draw more designs for me to choose instead of pinning on just that particular one design. Shall ask for opinions when i have those designs to choose from. This time, I think i'm serious. Got advice from colleague that it is alrite, only a bit more painful than ant bite (more like big ant bite) so i shall go do it! Yes, another change for me, about time. I'm going to get a tatoo, n cut my hair again! This time to a shorter length, realli short at the back, but long fringe... On another note, Today is a sad n heavy day for me. My best friend has just got her heart broken by her bf. N she was devastated! Really really devastated. It was really heart breaking to c her just now, all shacked, tired, worn down n crying... Her eyes were both swollen. It was really the 1st time i saw her so vulnerable n alone. A 5yr relationship is not sth that is easily forgotten or let go, but since it has come to this ending, she just has to accept the fact n move on. Cindy, be brave, u have a grp of friends n ur family to support u and help u pull thr this tough period. I'll make sure to jio u out to party next time n we'll go man-hunting :)

Perhentive Dive Trip 2007

After a break of almost 6 months, I'm on my way to obtain my Advanced Open Water Dive Certificate in Perhentian Islands!!!

Yes, Me n Tingmei decided to just do it 2 weeks prior to our departure. So we did a little research, booked our transport, called the dive center (Scubaholic) and went ahead with it.

Bus journey was long n tiring. Stupid bus broke down just 2hours into the ride and we had to wait for bloody 45 mins for another bus to pick us up. So sleepless night on the bus until the next morning when we reached Jerteh Terminal, where we waited for the bus to the jetty with a group of Malaysians. Then, it's a half hour boat ride to Coray Bay, where our destination is! Perhentian here we are!

Checked into our resort (fan-cooled n dusty) early in the morning and embarked on our journey. 1st off, to Long Beach for a walk, dip in the pool and some suntanning! It was a nice, sunny Thursday morning! After the visit, it was back to the dive shop to register our course. OUr instructor - Sebastian Ng! Some say he looks like Louis Koo (What do u think?) N Guess How old is he? He's only 26!!! Imagine, only 1 year my senior! More abt diving later cos the 1st day is just R&R.

Met Up with some of his other friends on the island - carol, Yenni and Angie. Chatted over dinner and headed off for drinks. TIng Mei fell sick after the dinner (due to heat stroke) and went off the bed earlier while we (Angie, Sebast n Me) Continued to chat. Tucked in to bed at 12am but had to wake up at 745am the next morning for my 1st dive!!

Poor Tingmei, fell sick, as such she had to abort the course. So it's down to only me alone taking the adv course with Sebastian. 1st dive was deep water diving, to about 23m. Wow. My descend was slow due to slow equalising and i was a little too heavy on the weights. But all else is good. Saw lotsa fishes ard n NO JELLYFISH!!! That's so damn important! Back to shore and more chatting session with Sebastian b4 the 2nd dive in the afternoon - Vietnamese Wreck.

Vietnamese Wreck = Lotsa jellyfish! Poor Sebast, had to keep saving me from jellyfish stings as there were juz too many for me to keep track. Haha...well what to do, that's the job of the instructor! To save his students! N he promised me that he would protect me from jellyfish. Great dive, tho visibility was poor. Saw baby sharks! 2nd break onshore b4 the highlight of the day - Night dive!

Night dive sounds scary because u'r diving in darkness, only a torchlight (which is not v bright). But the experience is quite interesting. Initially we were going to Sea Bell Rock, but it was swamped with jellyfish, so we changed to Romantic Beach. Not a bad choice ( I do not want to be stung). Saw plenty of fishes, prawn n crab! Scary at 1st but u'll get used to it. Night time activity - Chatting session with Carol, Yenni, Angie, Tingmei, Sebast! Sebast n Me Had special massage from Angie! It was great! Helped to relieve our muscle tension.

3 dives down, 2 more to go. The next day, dive number 4 was photography and there is just nth much to say about it. My underwater photography sucks and the place wasn't really that great. Saw lotsa nemos, stingray but other than that it was just sand. Last dive of the day was navigation and as usual nth much. I sucked at my triangle navigation and Sebast had to pull me back. Furnie thing was, i thot the tug was coral tangling my fins and i kicked it off until he pulled harder the 2nd time! Ha.. My fault. That marks the end of my Adv course! Now i'm a certified Adv O/W Diver! That calls for celebration which will happen later in the night! A furnie thing happened b4 our drinking session. This stupid german guy came to ask Sebast abt diving, and I just happened to be standing beside Sebast. So the german guy just turned and asked me 'R U his wife'? WTF!! Both of us nearly fainted! So being furnie, we admitted to the German guy (just for fun) and we just started calling each other 'Lao Gong' 'Lao Po' (Husband n wife) Haha crazy. This just goes to show when u go to an island, u can alwz do the craziest things!

Yes, back to drinking session! 2 bottles of volka n cans of beers! We just drank, talked and had entertainment in the form of guitar and singing. N Yes, I got pretty drunk! Sebast had to carry me back to my room and watch me fall asleep. I totally cannot remember (Even to this day) what i told him on the way, n he din want to specify. So let's just forget about it!

The next day, woke up with a headache n terrible mood. But, still went for an afternoon dive! Luckily i went! We went to Sugar wreck n it was great! Lotsa interesting things to c! Different types of fish, sharks again, jellyfish of cos! After the dive, it was rest time, time for a nap! NO more drinking session tonight. Tingmei had to return to S'pore while i stayed on. Rain poured heavily at night and we had to seek shelter inside the dive shop until it stopped. N that's when i spotted this reali cute guy - tom cruise look alike! Reali cute!!! Too bad he has got a gf (n an ugly one) damn! Back to my room n more chatting with Sebast b4 going to bed.

My last whole day in perhentian the next day. What to do? More diving of cos!! Went Sea Bell Rock again to try our luck and it was great! Great visibility, no current. The dive was fantastic! Saw many fishes, eels...No Jellyfish (important) N we stayed in the water for 61min!! The longest ever and still not low on air! By the time we surfaced, e'ryone was a little tired! But that's not the last dive! We went for another one at 4pm, to the Black Reef. Sounds interesting, and indeed it was an interesting n exciting dive!

Initially down in the water, still ok. Then it got worse. Visibility is just fucking poor! N ricky (one of the dive instructor) swims too fast. Almost lost him on several occassions. Current is also v strong, till a point where we had to grab onto sth to steady ourselfs. Halfway thr, our team of 5 split up. Me with philo (Ricky's gf) n ricky, while another team comprise of Sebast n Cindy. It was so hard to swim cos the current was quite strong. After a while, all 5 of us were reunited, only to be separated again a while later, this time with me, ricky n cindy in front. Cindy was low on air so she had to hurry to inform ricky and b4 i cld catch up with them, they were gone! Yes gone. OUt of sight. I just could not catch up cos the current was too strong to swim pass. N for a few mins, I was lost! Seriously lost cos there was noone in my vicinity, i had no idea where I was n i was low on air (<50 bar =" low" air =" 0">

That evening, me n Sebast went to the tip of Coral Bay for the sunset. Really beautiful! Nothing happening for the night, cos the next day is a sad day for me. Time to say GoodBye to Perhentians.

The next morning, woke up with stomachache. Went to the toilet twice! Must have been the sotong I ate the other night. Spent the whole morning just lazing ard, dipping in the pool n doing nth! Left Perhentian at 4pm with Philo for my journey back home!

The minute i reach S'pore the next morning, diarhorrea sets in. For the whole day, toilet was my best friend and I lost 2kg in just 1 day! What a way to lose weight!

I love Perhentian and I would definitely go back again. N I was told I looked like GiGi Leung (HK singer). Hahah. I hv no comments, no1 has ever told me that b4, except them...so happy la hahahah

Wow I managed to surmarise the long trip (6D5N) to such a short para... So proud of myself!

Oh, N Sebast has managed to convince me to get a tatoo at my lower back. Yes, below the waist, just abv the butt. Sexy place! N he drew a pict for me to tatoo. Crazy me, promised him i'll do it and use his picture and to get it done b4 i go back for another visit this year. Ok So i really have to do it now! ahahahahha...Things pple do when they'r on an island.
